Our Mission
The Octo-π-RatesOctoPiRates mission is to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics “STEAM” through hands on robotics activities. We have fun, team based, experiential experience, built around the engineering design process. Each year we participate in several challenges from robotic competitions to green automation. We also provide outreach at robotic workshops and trainings in the Big Bend area.
FIRST Robotics
FIRST: “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.” Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of 20 or more students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors.
